What makes an Afterschool program fun, educational, enriching, and overall a great all-around learning experience for children?

So, I started working as a Group Leader at Kahala Elementary in October 2012. Since then, I have moved up and down in position. I have worked multiple positions too (Group Leader, Site Director, Curriculum Specialist, Child Watch, and Welcome Center Staff).
When it comes to running a successful site, I always ask myself 3 things:
The most important is the 1st one. I want the children to experience new things and to learn how to be the best version of themselves. This is why August through October are very important. For 2 years, I have used the same themes of the month at Palolo A+ and it has helped with making everyone feel more like a community. We started to include Journal writing at our site too. The children love it and it constantly reminds me to create my own.
I see myself coming back for the 2018-2019 school year. After that school year, I hope to go back to school which means I will have to drop one of my jobs. I will most likely keep my EA position in the DOE.
To stay connected to the Y, I will probably keep my Welcome Center position. I have a goal in mind and the Y has given me skills that I plan to utilize in achieving that goal. My compassion is seeing children grow well. My motivation is knowing that what I do does make a difference. My dream is to manage my own growth program.
