Ananda Chou has been strengthening communities in Hawaii for the past 13 years with the YMCA of Honolulu. Ananda began her career with the Y as a Fitness attendant. She has since won many hats in the Y including Welcome Center Clerk, Office Manager, Donor Relations Coordinator, Membership and Marketing Director, and Executive Director of the Atherton YMCA Branch. She currently serves as Executive Director for the Kaimuki YMCA Branch and loves working for the Y where she has the opportunity to make a difference every day. Ananda also works on a number of association wide initiatives. Ananda serves as a regional YUSA trainer for Creating the Member Experience and Keys to Member Engagement. In the past, she has chaired the Raiser’s Edge Quality Team co-chaired the POLE Task Force. Before her career, Ananda was an athlete. She was born and raised in Berkeley, California, where she discovered her talent for rowing. This propelled her to Florida on a full athletic scholarship at the University of Miami. She then followed her parents to Kailua after graduating, where she was hired at the Windward YMCA and found her passion for strengthening community. Ananda holds a BA from the University of Miami, Florida, and an MBA from University of Hawaii at Manoa. She served on the board for the Kailua Chamber of Commerce for the past 3 years, and has served on the board for the Honolulu Professionals Foundation. She currently serves as Treasurer for the Organization of Women Leaders. When she isn’t working or volunteering, she is usually outside hiking or at the beach.
